An Interview With HoocH Conducted by Higor Rosa
Higor Rosa: Who are some of your influences?
Tony: Well, I feel I've been influenced by just about everything I've heard in my life. If I was to pick some signifcant influences I'd have to say NoFX, Pennywise, SlickShoes, Blink182, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
H.R.: Who are bands that you would like to tour with?
Tony: I'd love to tour with alot of bands, like Nofx, MxPx, Homegrown, Lagwagon, A New Found Glory. But honestly, I want to tour with as many different bands as I can. I think that the more bands you play with the more exciting it makes things. Which goes to say WarpedTour would be ideal for me.
H.R.: What CD is in your CD player right now?
Tony: "The Ataris - Blue Skies Broken Hearts.....Next 12 Exits" I think this album is so great. Its in my CD player a lot lately. Along with "Mother Goose- Greatest Hits"
H.R.: What do you do outside of music?
Tony: Outside of music I like to spend alot of time with my friends. I think friendship is one of the most important things we have to offer.
H.R.: What is your favorite part of playing live?
Tony: I like the onstage energy, The more people that watch the more intresting things get on and off stage. Another thing I think is really rad is when I get bombarded with bras.
H.R.: How would you describe your music to someone who has never heard it before?
Tony: HoocH is melodic punkrock with ska overtones and lame jokes.
H.R.: Who are some bands in the scene today that you think deserve recognition but may not be getting it?
Tony: That question is kinda hard to answer, there are so many rad bands that never get the attention they deserve. We all work hard but some just get luckier than others, Sad to say that the music industry is mostly just a game of luck.
H.R.: What do you think of the current music scene of the "mainstream" on a whole? Do you ever foresee a time when Mtv could be dominated by real music,as opposed to teenage constructed faces?
Tony: I have mixed feelings when it comes to mainstream music, Some people are into music for all the wrong reasons and thats kind of a drag. For the most part nothing I see on MTV catches my eye. I feel that all forms of media will eventually have to start playing music for the music it is, and not for the pretty face singing it. I just don't think I'll be around to see that day.
H.R.: What are your future plans- CD releases, tours, etc?
Tony: Within the next few months we will head back to the studio and record some songs for upcoming comps. We have talked about doing a full length but nothing is certain yet. One of the comps will be for De'evil' clothing and you can check their website out at www.deevil.com. Next summer we plan to Tour a bit hopefully we will do 3 weeks in canada then 2 in the US if things go as planned so if you get a chance come out and see us, we will atleast make you laugh.
H.R.: Final comments... ?
